Mert graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Education, Department of Mathematics with honors in 1994 and continued his graduate studies at Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mathematical Engineering. Mert, who started teaching in the year he graduated, is still working as a mathematics teacher at SEV American College. During this period, he continued long term certificate programs in the field of professional development and took part in studies such as professional development, educational technologies and national and international program development. Mert is a certified Google, Apple, Pearson and Texas Instruments (TI) instuctor. He is particularly interested in the integration of technology into courses.
